I haven’t been to Niagara Falls in years, one of the main reasons was the crowds (something I am not a big fan of being disabled, easily bumped by others, and knocked down). So when my friend Suzanne was visiting me, and had travelled fourteen hours by plane, I figured I would just have to suck it up and deal with my crowd issues. We arrived in Niagara Falls before lunch, giving us plenty of time to walk from the parking lot located at the end of the falls, to the Skylon Tower where we were to have lunch.
The last time I was in the Skylon Tower was on my honeymoon ~ some twenty-eight years ago, it was night, and you really couldn’t see much. This time, we had a beautiful sunny day, so when we were seated in the restaurant, and luckily enough to have a window seat with a direct view of the falls, the scene was spectacular. Well in the restaurant, staff does not bother you as you snap picture after picture.
After lunch we took the elevator up to the observation deck, where you are outside, protected by a grill, that is large enough for your camera to fit through, enabling you to snap even more dramatic images.
After lunch we spent time walking and exploring the area, buying souvenirs, and of course taking more pictures.
I highly recommend you visit Niagara Falls at least once in your lifetime, you certainly will not be disappointed.
This has been top of the bucket list for years and these pics have increased the urgency! Glad you were able to have such a good time 🙂 X
When you are able to come over, you will have to stay here.
But it looks so nice – I thought it would be horribly touristy! Or is it worse on the US side? The views are amazing.
I’ve actually never been on the American side, the crowds became worse in the afternoon but everyone moves along. There are so many places for pictures and the view is amazing. If you walk along or up Clifton Hill that is where all the tourist trap stores, restaurants, and wax museums are located. Again though, there is plenty of room to move. When you and Nev come to Canada, I will take you, it is only an hour away from where I live and I take the back roads for a more scenic view.
Happy to hear your day out was fabulous… such amazing views of the falls x
Thank you Izzie, it was a beautiful day for viewing.
Some awesome photos I will NEVER be able to take…..that whole height thing takes Skylon Tower right out of my orbit……..but am most pleased to see your pix! Glad you had such a nice time!
Usually the height thing scares the heck out of me, but for some reason I was quite alright. I’m glad you enjoyed the pictures. 🙂
A worthwhile trip for anyone coming to your area. I really enjoyed going downriver … impressive – well, at least to me. Thanks for the pics from the tower, which we didn’t go up.
I definitely agree Frank, and your welcome I thoroughly enjoyed taking the pictures from a top the tower.
Great photos! I’d love to go there!
We would love it if you came down this way, and I would be more than happy to show you around.
What a great visit, Cathy! It’s about 20 years since i was there. You got some great photos from the restaurant. 🙂
Oh you must visit again and yes the restaurant was a perfect view for the falls.
