Hubby and I returned Monday after going on a two-week vacation where we explored Quebec City, the Gaspe Peninsula, Prince Edward Island (PEI), and the Cabot Trail in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, which meant the young man (age 21 in 19 days) and middle child (age 23) had to feed themselves, do laundry, water my garden, pick daily from the garden, water house plants, feed and walk the dogs, pick up the mail and well you get the picture.
The young man easily made pasta for himself (a lot), ate the large lasagna I had frozen for a future family meal, okay, he did share with a friend, well middle child ate a lot of eggs. At one point before a soccer game she was to play with her sister, she sent her the following text, and took a screen shot for mom and dad:
Meanwhile one of the meals we were having, mussels in a lovely wine sauce with cornbread:
Ha! So glad they coped. Love the sarcasm in their texts 🙂
They made me laugh!
Sounds like a great trip, Cathy. Nice to know you were missed, if only for your cooking. 🙂
Definitely. 🙂
So funny that the kids suddenly need mum around when they’re home. How on earth do they survive when they’re away at uni I wonder?
I sometimes wonder the same, apparently they do survive though.
Good for you! Quebec sounds amazing. Did you speak French all the time? Amazing isn’t it, when grownup kids are home they expect to be waited on…
Quebec is beautiful, sadly I remember little of my French. We had no issues communicating, most that we spoke with were bilingual. I’m seriously thinking of returning to school to relearn French. We were gone for two weeks, and the kids missed my cooking, which is both good and bad. Lol
Being an adult totally blows!
Oh I so agree!!
Cheers to a good time away and a safe trip!
It was both a good time and a safe trip, pictures to come soon! 🙂
Oooh how I love mussels. They are so good! Sounds like you need to leave your kids more often. They’ll soon get the hang of it!! 😉
I love mussels too, and believe I will buy them more often myself. The kids were funny, they can seem to survive just fine in their own apartments during the school year, but when they come home, they want mom to do things.
